What to expect from your next Sydney trip
Traveling to a new place can be a little daunting add a little locals knowledge goes a long way. If you want to experience Sydney like a sydneysider here is our favourite restaurants, Bars, activities & Food markets.
We asked our staff what their favourite attractions and places to visit were and here's what they came up with.
Regent Place: A Hive Of Authentic Restaurants
When admiring the sprawling skyline of Sydney CBD, Regent Place doesn’t exactly stand out. The plain, unassuming exterior is inoffensive, but it doesn’t tend to convey anything beyond a stack of residential spaces with balconies that you would imagine boast enviable views. Indeed, you’d be forgiven for walking straight past it without a backward glance if not for the brightly coloured signs on George St. But don’t let the facade fool you, as it belies the many culinary treasures hidden within.
Step inside Regent Place and you’ll quickly lose yourself in an abundance of paper lamps, lattice windows, street art and other colourful decor. The upper floors provide access to a variety of fashion retailers, beauty parlours and one-stop medical services, but the lower floors is where you’ll be able to satisfy your hunger and general craving for a quality meal. Whether you’re heading to the George Street cinema, hitting the bars of Sydney, halfway through a shopping spree or simply looking for a delicious feed, duck into Regent Place and enjoy numerous opportunities to enjoy authentic eats. Just be warned: after making your choice, you’ll likely want to return to try out the rest.
With the shopping centre open until late every night and a neighbour to Fraser Suites Sydney, it’s a must-add to your Sydney itinerary, no matter the length of your stay. To help you decide where to grab a table, here are our picks for the best restaurants and eateries to try at Regent Place.
Sydney Best Bars
Assembly Bar is conveniently located on the ground corner from Fraser Suites Sydney and is a must see from any Fraser’s guest. Whether you are alone or with company, this bar ticks all the boxes for a CBD taproom – classic and hipster cocktails, moreish bar food and dark corners. Who cares if it’s only Monday, you need a couple of stiff ones to deal with work tomorrow.
Sydney CBD Activities
Seek out the hidden oasis that's Wendy's Secret Garden
What is it? This secret garden, with full views of Sydney Harbour Bridge, is part public, part private land at the foot of artist Brett Whiteley’s home in Lavender Bay.
Why go? For years, the land was tangled, overgrown and strewn with rubbish, but when Whiteley died in 1992, his widow, Wendy, channelled her grief into creating a place of enchantment. Sydneysiders come to escape the busier parks and enjoy a picnic in the hidden oasis.
Don't miss: The chance to snap a pic of Sydney Harbour surrounded by towering fig trees and native plants.

Prawn toast, bacon and egg rolls, steamed buns and truffles are just some of the delights to dig into. Anyone else hungry?

How Do You Get Around Sydney?
There are many different ways to get around Sydney.
- The Sydney Lightrail connects you from Central to Circular Quay with all the major stops in-between: Chinatown, Townhall, QVB, Wynyard and Grosvenor Street. The Sydney Lightrail will also take you to Bondi Junction and the Sydney Convention Centre.
- The Sydney Metro runs frequently across the city and connects the CBD with the North, South and West of the city. If you are looking at where should I stay in Sydney as a tourist, the Sydney metro will easily bring you from Sydney Central to Pitt Street (the main shopping street), Martin Place (a pedestrianised inner-city street) and Barangaroo, which is right by the waters of Sydney Harbour.
- There are many buses across the Sydney CBD, connecting the inner city to Surry Hills, Kings Cross and even Bondi Beach.
- Taking the ferry across to Manly is a highlight of any visit to Sydney. You can get to many other parts of Sydney by ferry as well, for example to the Sydney Zoo or the Watsons Bay Hotel, which is a beautiful spot to visit for a sunset over a drink.
- Of course, Sydney has Uber and other taxi services which you can use on-demand to get around.
If you are looking for getting around Sydney on the cheap, taking public transport is your best bet. Many parts of Sydney are also flat and very walkable!
